LAS VEGAS — At CES 2018, Qualcomm and Bing announced an innovative new collaboration that aims to place the Google Assistant into more devices round the residence.

The collaboration includes two Qualcomm Residence Hub platforms in line with the SDA624 and SDA212 system on chips that assistance Google’s Android os Things.

Explained by Qualcomm as a “comprehensive collection of platforms,” the system also contains brand-new system-on-modules, development panels and reference designs. The aim with the platforms is support fast manufacturing and commercialization of AI-equipped house hub items featuring Google services, including Cast, TensorFlow, Duo, and Maps.

Qualcomm said the variant based on the SDA212 SoC was created to bring electronic assistant and sound capability into house products and devices particularly fridges, ovens and washing machines.

The 2nd variant is dependant on the Qualcomm SDA624 SoC and is apparently more feature-rich, with advantage processing capabilities that support advanced level jobs including video clip conferencing, remote video tracking, and streaming video clip.

Qualcomm said software and safety updates may be pushed away via the Google Cloud. For OEMs, what this means is a far more simplified rollout of new features, bug fixes and safety revisions.

“The design of AI-enabled house hubs is a complex task, requiring OEMs to carry collectively connection, compute and safety equipment and software elements really short time,” said Raj Talluri, SVP of product management for Qualcomm Technologies. “Our Residence Hub platforms making use of Android Things are able to integrate the necessary technologies, with support for vocals interfaces, connectivity to several ecosystems, and cloud integration to enable a wide range of IoT devices.”

Harman and Lenovo are currently focusing on home services and products using the Qualcomm Residence Hub platforms, Qualcomm stated.
